Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Tools:  Mixing Bowl, 3 Mini Loaf Pans or 1 Large Loaf Pan

Makes: 3 5.75 x 3 inch loafs    or    1  8 x 4  loaf 

This Classic Banana Bread is perfectly flavourful, moist and sweet! With chopped walnuts or even chocolate chips, you can enjoy this banana bread in many ways. Eat it for dessert or breakfast! One way I like to enjoy banana bread, Is warmed up and smeared with a thick slab of butter. Yum!

Honestly, I love bananas but we usually buy way too many at the store. My local grocery store sells around 12-15 bananas for 1 dollar! Now that’s a deal I cannot pass up. However, I end up with a bunch of spotty bananas. My favorite way to use up all of those overripe bananas? This homemade banana bread recipe!

Ingredients:

1 egg

2 bananas, mashed until smooth and creamy

6 teaspoons of melted butter

1 cup of brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon of vanilla 

1 3/4 cup of flour

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 cup walnuts (optional)

3/4 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 °  Fahrenheit

1.) Grease and flour loaf pan.

2.) In a large bowl, sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

3.) In a separate bowl, mash 2 bananas until smooth and creamy. Once creamy, add a beaten egg, melted butter, vanilla, and sugar–whisk until well combined.

4.) Gently fold in the sifted flour mixture with wet ingredients (banana mixture).

5.) Add walnuts or chocolate chips or a combination of both.

6.) Pour into the greased loaf(s)  pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. 

7.)Allow cooling on a meat rack before serving, about 10 minutes. This recipe also freezes well for up to 3 months.
